MTD Ledger UK privacy policy

Android app records

Income, expense, category, date and note entries are stored on your device. MTD Ledger UK does not create a cloud account and does not upload ledger entries to an MTD Ledger UK server. App preferences are encrypted on supported devices, with a local device-storage fallback where encryption cannot be created.

Exports and sharing

CSV files are created only when you choose to copy or share an export. Android then lets you choose the destination. Once you send or save an export outside the app, the destination service and your own storage choices control that copy.

Device authentication and reminders

If you enable app lock, Android device authentication is used to control access. MTD Ledger UK does not receive your fingerprint, face or device passcode. If you enable reminders, the app schedules a local notification. Notification permission is requested only when you turn reminders on.

Google Play billing and reviews

Optional Pro subscriptions are processed by Google Play. The app receives product and purchase-status information needed to show and unlock paid features; MTD Ledger UK does not receive your full payment-card details. After meaningful use, the app may open Google Play's standard in-app review flow. Any rating or review is handled under Google's terms and privacy practices.

Website analytics

Google Analytics loads on mtdledger.co.uk only after you select Accept in the analytics notice. It is used to understand visits and Google Play button clicks so the site can be improved. If you decline, the analytics script is not loaded. Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage.

Support enquiries

If you email support, the information in your message is used to answer the enquiry and maintain an appropriate support record. Do not include tax account credentials or unnecessary financial details.

Retention and deletion

You can delete individual entries or clear all entries in the app. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data under normal Android behaviour. Copies you exported must be deleted from their saved or shared destinations separately. You can clear the website analytics choice through your browser storage controls.

What the app is not

MTD Ledger UK is record-keeping and preparation software. It does not submit directly to HMRC and does not provide tax advice.
