For accountants and bookkeepers

Give disorganised client records a simpler starting point.

For sole traders and landlords still relying on memory, statements or scattered notes: start with one income or expense record, build a repeatable habit and export a CSV before review.

Clear boundary: MTD Ledger UK helps clients prepare records and CSV exports. It does not submit returns to HMRC, claim to be HMRC-compatible filing software or replace professional tax advice.

Free fictional samples

See the handoff formats before recommending them.

Compare the free basic CSV with the optional Pro accountant pack using fictional records only, then decide whether either format would make client review easier.

Where is the client stuck?

“I do not know when MTD starts for me.”

Use the private browser checker to see the threshold and corresponding start date that may apply.

Check the likely start date

“I have no usable digital records.”

Add one real record in the local-only browser ledger, then build from there without creating an account.

Add the first record

“I need a clearer handoff.”

Use the Android ledger and CSV export workflow to reduce reconstruction of dates, amounts, categories and notes before review.

Review the Android app

Useful before the first tidy set of records exists

No account needed for the checker

The browser-based checker runs on the visitor's device. It does not send the entered figures to MTD Ledger UK.

A weekly record habit

Clients can capture dates, amounts, categories and notes on Android instead of rebuilding the year from scattered messages and statements.

CSV handoff

Exports are designed for backup and accountant or bookkeeper review before any filing decision is made.

Free entry point

Basic entry tracking and CSV export are free. Clients choose whether the optional accountant export pack is useful later.

A three-step client handoff

  1. Share the threshold checker. The client gets a plain-English indication of the phased MTD Income Tax dates that may apply.
  2. Start recording weekly. If the Android app suits them, they keep income and expense details while they are still fresh.
  3. Review the export. The client can provide CSV records for checking, cleanup or transfer into the accountant's preferred workflow.

No referral contract, client signup or paid commitment is required. A professional “suitable”, “needs changes” or “unsuitable” judgement is equally useful.
